Sana'a A World Heritage Site

Its been months since my last post, now I'M BACK with another great introduction to an old city by the name of Sana'a...its a strange name to many of us and many will ask where's the coordinates of this city....it is 15°24′16.92″N 44°12′24.12″E hehe It's the capital of Republic of Yemen, a country located on the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia, bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north and Oman to the east.

Why i even considered to promote this city? Its because Sana'a is one of the ancient Yemeni cities dating back to the Sabaen dynasty of the 6th century BC. It is that old my friend, don't u feel wasted if u never been to such an old place or know about it.

Sana'a was designated as the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Arab Cultural Capital, this shows the true potential of the city, Dubai,Doha,Abu Dhabi are just too modernized, to feel a true Arabian World here is the place. Although the country is one of the poorest in Arab Peninsula, but for holidaying we don't pay attention to their economy and politics.

What can be done here? Sure from the photo above one can know it is a really old city with walls. Yeah it is a walled city, where else can you find a walled city in this 21st century world especially in Arab? I know there are few in China. The OLD CITY OF SANA'S, one said is the most beautiful city anywhere on Earth and the moment you pass through the gates of the wall Bab al-Yaman an ataraxia feeling will overwhelm you. Most people spend days wandering without aim through this enormous work of art and that's certainly the best way to absorb this city. Below is part of the old city

And the gate

The Great Mosque of Yemen another architecture wonder that you must see.

Besides Sana'a I would like to introduce some other cities that are unique to Yemen, Aden and Shibam. Aden a natural harbour lies in the crater of an extinct volcano which now forms a peninsula joined to the mainland. Shibam is often called the oldest skyscraper city in the world. The city has the tallest mud buildings in the world.

Casablanca

Here another great introduction to the next exotic destination, Casablanca, Morocco. Casablanca is a modern city with a rich heritage where the various arts, cultures and old traditions can live harmoniously together.

Walls of Old Medina
Notable Landmarks

The old medina

La Squala, Casablanca

The Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah reinforced the medina's ramparts in 1770. The Sqala symbolizes his reign. You will have a fine view of the medina and the port from this stronghold, now converted into a restaurant. The port was built at the turn of the 20th century and is protected by a 3180m long artificial pier. The El Hank lighthouse, built in 1920 to facilitate access to the port, symbolizes the city's economic success. A very busy market is held in Place de la Comédie, to the west of the medina, where you will also find a pleasant public garden where the koubba (shrine) of Sidi Bou Smara is situated. Before you leave the medina by the impressive Bab El Mersa, the navy gate, visit the Sidi Kairouani sanctuary which is near Tnaker Street.
